Get Involved

I'm ready to get involved.

Different people have different gifts. Some of you will walk through a gate; most of you won't, and this still does not happen without you. Pick the one that fits — or pick several — and tell us at the bottom of this page.

Four Paths

Every one of them is needed.

In this kingdom, the one who types up a list is just as valuable as the one who goes into the prison.

Path One

Prayer Partner

Pray & stay informed

The first and least optional. Prayer walking softens the spiritual climate of a place before anyone sets foot in it — and it is the thing Americans reach for last.

  • Adopt one California prison or county jail by name
  • Pray for laborers — insiders and outsiders
  • Join a gathering to pray for the incarcerated
  • Get updates as doors open across the state
Path Two

Financial Partner

Invest in the work

This is not primarily a fundraiser. But movements run on real costs, and people give to vision. Every dollar here goes toward getting equipped laborers in front of inmate leaders.

  • Coach travel to units across California
  • Training materials and equipping events
  • Background clearances and volunteer processing
  • A California coordinator to keep it all moving

Gifts go to the Prison Ministry Outreach fund at Neighbors & Nations. Want to talk about partnering monthly instead? Tell us on the form →

Path Three

NPL Coach

Co-labor inside

Become a Free World NPL Prison Coach. This is a real commitment, and it requires being equipped first — this is not just anyone wandering in to do their own thing.

  • Free online training before you ever step inside
  • Get matched to a unit where inmates are already engaging
  • Cast vision, train, and coach the leaders there
  • Join the national Learning Community
Path Four

Volunteer & Share

Serve from where you are

Not everyone is called to go into a prison. Almost everyone can do one of these — and the work stalls without them.

  • Administration: track applications, clearances, follow-up
  • Tech, web, design, video, research
  • Tell us who you know already working in prison ministry
  • Open a door at your church or network
The Coach Path

What you'll actually do.

Becoming a Free World NPL Prison Coach is a real commitment — not a program you sign up for and forget. Here is exactly what it looks like.

STEP 1

Complete the sign-up

Fill out the form at the bottom of this page to register as a Free World NPL Prison Coach. That's your first step into the movement.

STEP 2

Get trained online — free

You'll be notified of free online training covering best practices for engaging prison units and coaching inmate leaders. Learn what works before you step inside.

STEP 3

Get connected to a unit near you

Based on your location, we'll connect you to prison units that have inmates already completing the 4-Fields online training and asking for coaches. You go where the fire is burning.

STEP 4

Cast vision, train, and coach

Engage the already-prepared inmates inside. Cast vision for a No Place Left movement in their unit, train them in what they need, and coach them to launch and multiply house churches from within.

STEP 5

Join the Learning Community

Become part of an ongoing community of Free World NPL leaders from across America — sharing what's working, learning from each other, and together impacting America's prisons with Church Planting Movements.

Community of Practice

The national Learning Community.

Connect with Free World NPL Prison Coaches from across America. Nationwide quarterly Zoom calls to share best practices, resources, and stories of what God is doing inside prisons — building a learning community of practice around Church Planting Movements.

What we work through together

Topic 1

The Insider-Outsider Model in Practice

Establishing the right posture as a free-world coach. What it looks like to equip without controlling.

Topic 2

Finding Persons of Peace

Entry strategy for new units. Identifying and investing in the right inmate leaders.

Topic 3

Discovery Bible Study Inside

How the 3/3 format works in dorms, dayrooms and rec yards — and training inmates to lead it themselves.

Topic 4

Tracking Faithful & Fruitful Activity

Measuring generational church multiplication, and coaching from the data without micromanaging.

Topic 5

Handling Transfers

When a key leader is transferred, it isn't a setback — it's multiplication. Connecting them to coaches at the new unit.

Topic 6

Release & Reintegration

Every released NPL leader is a church plant launch. Connecting them to local networks on the outside.

Topic 7

Racial & Cultural Contextualization

Prisons are stratified. Beginning where you have credibility and letting the Spirit create cross-racial multiplication.

Topic 8

Coaching the Level 3 Multiplier

What a quarterly unit visit looks like. Facilitating Iron-on-Iron meetings and reviewing church maps.

One Form

Tell us how you want to be part of this.

Check every box that fits. You do not have to know what you're doing, and you do not have to be qualified. You have to be willing.

  • A real person reads every one of these.
  • Training is free and online — nobody waits on clearance to start being useful.
  • If you only want to pray, say so. That is not the small option.
  • Nobody owns this. E3 Partners, Real Vida, NPL Academy and local churches are working together.
Where you live
The facility you want to be connected to
The one closest to you, or the one already on your heart. Pick your county above and its jails and prisons move to the top of this list. We are working toward a praying, serving presence in every jail and prison in California, and this is how we map it.
If you are already serving somewhere, this is the most useful thing you can tell us. We are not trying to take anything over — we are trying to find who is already there.

We will not add you to a mass mailing list or pass your information to anyone. Questions first? Put them in the box above and a real person will get back to you.

Until There Is No Place Left

There is a John Mance in every jail and prison in California.

He is already inside. He is already praying. What is missing is outsiders willing to go find him — and people behind them who pray, give, and serve so they can.
